Week #5

52 week photo challenge, 52 week photo project

Hey everyone! So, I got back from Vegas on Monday and my days have been a little thrown off. I had planned to post a portrait this week but before I knew it, it was Thursday & I didn’t have one! It’s all good though because I definitely had a backup prepared. This photo is a view from the MGM Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada with a little twist on it ;). Let me know what you think & be sure to keep up every Friday for my weekly posts!

Week #4

52 week photo challenge, 52 week photo project

Hello hello again! So I am currently in Las Vegas for Miclynn’s 21st, so I suggest you go tell her happy birthday! Anyway, being that this was only my third time flying, you know I had to get that basic “out the window of a plane” shot! I mean really, if you’re someone like me who doesn’t get to travel very often then this is a must have photo. At least that’s how I feel. I live for gorgeous views and what’s better than an aerial view? I mean probably a few things, but really it’s still amazing. So enjoy this week’s post and be sure to check back next week!

Week #3

52 week photo challenge, 52 week photo project

Hey guys! So, we’re 3 weeks into the new year and that means 3 weeks done with the 52 week challenge. I’m not going to lie, this week was a little rough. I definitely struggled on what I was going to post and couldn’t decide what I was going to do. It’s kind of sad that it’s only 3 weeks in and I’m already having a hard time. I guess that’s why they call it a challenge! There’s also the fact that I’m always super picky about what I like to photograph. I’m not always pleased with what I take, but if there’s a good enough reason for the photo, I’m more okay with it. That being said, this week I focused on light. Light is basically the key factor in taking a photograph and it’s something that I’ve really grown to appreciate. Whether it’s the way light falls perfectly on your significant other or the way light slowly creeps into your room through the blinds in the morning, there’s just something about it that makes me so happy.

Week #2

52 week photo challenge, 52 week photo project

Hey friends, two weeks strong so far! (Which obviously isn’t a lot but it makes me feel good because I know I’m already being consistent.) So, this past week was pretty cold & gloomy. I admit I didn’t leave the house for at least 3 days because of how cold and rainy it was. And while I love days like that (for obvious reasons: cuddling under the blankets with hot chocolate and movies), I really couldn’t stand it this week. I wanted to go venture out and take photos so I could post one for today. Of course, I’m not going to let the weather stop me from doing what I need to do. Therefore, I decided to practice on some studio work & lighting. Ever since my studio photography class, I’ve been interested in practicing with different lighting setups. I remember one specific class, my professor was showing us how to shoot with colored gels. That got me interested in trying it for myself. So below, is the final result. Let me know what you guys think!

2014

52 week photo challenge, 52 week photo project

I don’t usually make New Years resolutions, and when I do, I don’t stick to them. It’s usually a mental discussion with myself such as “Hey, let’s try to do this better” and 3 days later it’s broken. This year, I actually wrote down a list of all the things I want to do this year. They’re little things that I feel will really help me be a better me. One of them was to take more pictures. Being in school the past four and a half years, I usually spent most of my time and energy on my projects. I could have made time for personal projects, but I was always trying to put school first. Now that I’m done with school and for the the new year, I decided to take on a 52 week photo challenge. I’m not following any specific one, instead I’m just challenging myself to take and post a photo a week. My photos will be coming from different mediums (film, digital, iPhone) and I’ll be posting every Friday. To kick off the new year, here is my first one!

For Christmas, my boyfriend got me a Fujifilm Instax 210 and I finally used it on New Years. I decided to use the first photo I took with it as my first post. One of my favorite things is when Lyle just sits and plays guitar so I decided to snap a photo while he did. I hope you enjoy my new project as much as I will! Be sure to check back every Friday for a new photo!
