Week 45; Texas Weather

52 week photo challenge, 52 week photo project

Hi guys! So, the past few weeks I’ve had photos planned and they needed to be executed a certain way and needed time and preparation, and I just worked really hard to make them come together properly. To be honest, I wanted to shoot something quick and simple this week. Plus, with the lazy, gloomy weather it was hard to want to do anything besides lay in bed with hot chocolate. So, I decided to just head outside and see what I could find. The wind was blowing pretty nicely so of course our flags were waving around. I wanted to work on framing my photo nicely so I spent a good while outside in an uncomfortable position to get this photo haha. Anyway, it’s exactly what I wanted: something really simple but something I enjoyed. Also, who doesn’t love Texas and our bi-polar weather?

Week 44; Happy Halloween! "Carrie"

52 week photo challenge, 52 week photo project

Hey guys! So, I’m super super excited about this post. A few weeks ago, I was scrolling through Netflix and I found the remake of Carrie. The original is one of my favorite classic horror films and I always love to give remakes a chance. It didn’t let me down! In my opinion, it was pretty good. Of course there were minor yet obvious changes to little details, considering it was taking place a little more recently (ie, they recorded the scene when Carrie discovers she’s bleeding on a phone and uploaded it to the internet).

ANYWAY! I was strangely inspired to use this movie for my Halloween post and here we are! Paula (thankfully) agreed to be my model, even after I told her about pouring blood all over her. We went on a trip to Goodwill and I was so happy that I found the perfect gown! I don’t think you fully understand my excitement, y’all. Anyway, instead of going into detail explaining how the shoot went, just check out the behind the scenes video I made! Also, as always, let me know what you think! 😀 Thanks guys and be sure to check back next week! 😀

Week 43; Halloween Themed Pet Portraits

52 week photo challenge, 52 week photo project

Hey y’all! This week, I wanted to get into the Halloween spirit just a little and prep you guys for next week. My aunt bought Sadie a cute little Halloween tutu/costume last year when we got her and it finally fits her! It was a little snug on Sierra but I didn’t want to leave her out of the photo shoot fun! Although, it doesn’t look like either of them enjoyed being in this ridiculous thing while I snapped photos upon photos of them. If you know me, then you know I’m obsessed with my dogs. So, I may be a little biased when I say they’re the cutest pups ever! :p Until next week, I hope you enjoy! And seriously, get excited for next week because I have something super awesome planned. I don’t normally hype up my upcoming post but I’m just so excited I cant help it.

Week 42; Camera Obscura

52 week photo challenge, 52 week photo project

Hey guys! So this week, I turned my room into a giant pinhole camera! If you don’t know what that is, you can click HERE and see how it works. Basically, I covered up my windows and made my room as dark as I could. I then had a tiny opening in the cardboard covering one of my windows through which light entered my room. As my eyes adjusted to the darkness, I could see the image of outside sprawled across my wall. The only thing was that it was inverted. It was still something really cool to see and do in my own bedroom! Below, I added the original image as well as it upside down just so you can see it better. I hope you enjoy! And be ready for the next few weeks because I have some interested posts planned! 😀

Week 41; Familiar Silhouettes Revisited

52 week photo challenge, 52 week photo project

Hey guys! So I had a little trouble coming up with an idea for this week’s photo. I started looking to lists of photo ideas for inspiration. A lot of them weren’t anything I was interested in or anything I felt would help me really progress. However, one of them suggested fine art. When I read that, the first thing I thought of was how exactly a year ago, I was working on my senior thesis. As stressful as it was, I actually had a lot of fun with it. I sometimes actually miss school because although I was constantly busy that meant I was constantly being creative and I love that. So anyway, this week I decided to revisit my senior thesis project. Even though I had months to prepare for that, this time I only had a week. It was still enjoyable as always though! So, I hope y’all enjoy as well!

Week 40; Sun flares

52 week photo challenge, 52 week photo project

Hi guys! So, I’m not going to lie I completely forgot it was Friday. I did have a photo planned for this week but I lacked materials and couldn’t think of a good alternative of materials in time. Before I knew it, the week got away from me and I forgot I was photo-less for the week. But fear not! Thank goodness for iPhones because you have a camera and tons of editing apps at your fingertips! I almost always have some sort of inspiration floating around in my head so I was lucky I was able to work on something in such a short amount of time. Also, not saying I half assed this because I would never. Like I said, shooting with my iPhone is just quick and easy. Anyway, enough blabbering. This week’s photo is inspired purely by the golden hour’s sun & an editing style I have recently enjoyed. So I hope you enjoy as well!

Week 39; Happy 4th Birthday, Morgyn!

52 week photo challenge, 52 week photo project

Happy Friday, y’all! Welcome back to my blog! This week’s post is featuring my niece Morgyn. She’s made an appearance here and there because she’s always over at my house so of course, she’s readily available. However, this week I decided to do a regular portrait session with her for her birthday. I aimed for shooting during golden hour and I was really happy with how they turned out! Of course, she was over having her picture taken after a while but we still had tons to choose from and I actually couldn’t decide which few to post here :|. That is why I added more to my website! So you can check out more HERE. I hope y’all enjoy! Let me know what you think and be sure to check back next Friday for another post!

Week 38; Cinemagraphs

52 week photo challenge, 52 week photo project
Hey everyone & happy Friday! This week I’m bringing you a very exciting photo. Actually, it’s not just an ordinary photo. This week, I present you with a cinemagraph. For those that don’t know, a cinemagraph is a photograph where a minor and repeated movement occurs. While they are similar to GIFs, they’re still different due to the fact that there is a subtle movement. It was pretty tough to get this going at first and I definitely ran into lots of kinks. However, once I finally got all those worked out, I was pretty happy with the outcome. I can’t wait to try more of these in the future! I hope you guys enjoy it! So, until next week… 🙂

Indigenous, Round Two

2014, bohemian, ethical fashion, fashion, fashion photographer, indigenous, Lori Sandoval Photography

So over the summer, I was able to work quite a bit with Lauren from Indigenous again. We endured the Texas summer heat and did a couple of shoots of the summer lines she carried in her online store. We were also able set up studio space in my house and work on some product images for her site. If you enjoy boho/festival style fashion & ethically made pieces be sure to check out Indigenous! It’s seriously such a pleasure to work with Lauren, Janina and Ali. I’m looking forward to our fall photo shoots so be looking out for those!
