Well, if this isn’t an important post in America then I don’t know what is! Happy Independence Day, y’all! Of course I had to post an American themed photo for today. I mean, I guess I could have gone in the opposite direction & done some sort of Independence Day movie themed photo but that just wouldn’t make as much sense. What else says “4th of July” like the American flag & fireworks? I was super proud of myself for planning ahead and making sure I got everything together and finished in time. It was so much less stressful too! Anyway, don’t want to bore you with too much rambling. I’ll let y’all get to your BBQs, pool parties, & beer! Enjoy 🙂
Paula Cortez Band
2014, CD Release party, Live Music, live music photography, Lori Sandoval Photography, musician portraits, Paula Cortez Band, summer 2014, summer nightsA few months back, I posted about how I took photos for little miss Paula Cortez and her band. They ended up using my photos for the cover of their CD that they recently released! It’s pretty cool to see my photos on an album cover, I’m not gonna lie. So last Friday (June 27), they had their CD release party at Deco Pizzeria and they asked me to photograph for them. Of course, I said yes. While I was there, I also filmed a bit to make a video for them! I had asked Paula what her favorite song off the album was so I could record that song to make it like a “live music video”. Below, you can find a few images from their performance as well as the video I threw together! Hope you enjoy it all & don’t forget to check them out everywhere! 🙂
WEEK 26; 1/2 of 2014
52 week photo challenge, 52 week photo projectDid y’all know that we are exactly halfway through the year? Because we are. Week 26 is here and that means we have 26 weeks of 2014 left! I’m sorry but when did that happen!? Anyway, in honor of this being “half a year” I decided to do half a portrait. I tried various ways to make this image happen the way I had it planned in my head and that was pretty difficult. I finally got it somewhat close to what I was happy with and this is the result! I wanted it to be somewhat fading out to signify what’s still to come. So, since 2014 is halfway over, if you haven’t accomplished what you’ve wanted to there’s still 26 weeks left! SO GET TO IT! 🙂 Happy Friday!
Week 25; GO SPURS GO!
52 week photo challenge, 52 week photo projectWell, would ya look at that. Another week gone and here’s another Friday. It’s strange that there are some weeks that I swear there’s two days between posts. Then, there’s other days, like today, where I feel as if I forgot to post the previous week. Does that make sense? Anyway, as you know (and if you don’t, have you been living under a rock!?) the San Antonio Spurs won their fifth NBA Championship title on Father’s Day. It was definitely a huge deal considering the outcome of last year’s finals but let’s not talk about that. Anyway, the plan was to go to the river parade downtown on Wednesday and take lots of awesome photos for this week but, considering how hot it gets in San Antonio, we opted for the Alamodome viewing instead. I was on my way in with my camera ready when we noticed there was someone walking back to the parking lot with their camera. We asked if they weren’t allowing them in and he told us no. I was pretty upset, especially once I got inside when I realized plenty of people had somehow taken their cameras in. I still had so much fun and was able to capture some photos on my iPhone. It stills irks me about the low quality and thinking about how much better my DSLR photos would have been but you can’t change the past right? What’s done is done and all that matters is I had fun! 🙂
Week 24; Happy Father’s Day!
52 week photo challenge, 52 week photo project
Week 23.
52 week photo challenge, 52 week photo projectHey y’all! Welcome back to another week & happy Friday! I had a super awesome photo planned for this week and I had all the photos for it ready buuuut I couldn’t edit it the way I wanted to. It just wasn’t coming out looking right at all so basically, that was my first fail for the year. I do plan on trying again in the future so we’ll see how it goes then! I’m not giving up! So of course I start panicking and thinking of last minute things I can photograph without it being dumb and rushed. My nieces were playing in the pool at the time & I was loving all the colors going on so I decided to just snap a quick photo on my iPhone. Honestly, sometimes I love shooting with my iPhone more than my digital camera. It’s quick and you can edit everything right there and bam you’re done! I figured this was also a great way to kick off summer (for most people at least. I don’t really have “summer break” anymore :|). Hope you enjoy!
Week 22!
52 week photo challenge, 52 week photo projectHappy Friday & welcome back to my blog! My poor blog didn’t get as much loving this week but that’s okay! I just want to get straight to the point because I am so, so excited for this post. Tuesday morning I was woken up by my 3 year old niece and she was showing me her new haircut. The first thing I thought of? Snow White. So, I asked my sister to send her over the next day with her Snow White costume. While my dad snuck off to pick up her sissies, I set up and told her we were going to play dress up and take pictures. She cooperated pretty well for the most part, aside from wanting to be done after 5 minutes and wanting to see every picture the second I took it. Anyway, below is the main photo & then I added a few cute “behind the scenes” photos because honestly there were so many cute ones it was hard to choose. I hope you enjoy! 😀
Week 21
52 week photo challenge, 52 week photo projectBig Bend National Park
Big Bend, explore Texas, Lori Sandoval Photography, Texas, West TexasSo, it looks like my blog is getting 3 times the loving this week and I’m perfectly okay with that! This past weekend, I visited Big Bend with some of my best friends and it was magical. I had been wanting to go for quite some time now and for a while I was starting to think it wasn’t going to happen. I’m so happy I finally got to go and I absolutely cannot wait to go back! There was still so much more exploring to be done! I took a few pictures and videos so check it all out! 😀
Maddie’s Graduating!
2014, graduation, graduation portraits, Lori Sandoval Photography, Nikon, nursing, portrait photographyI love that I update my blog once weekly but I love even more when I’m able to post twice a week! Today, I’m here to show you photos from the graduation shoot I had with Maddie last week. We took so many photos, got some chipotle (which is obviously the best part of all of this..) and had so much fun the whole day. We’re super lucky it didn’t rain on us like it was supposed to. I’m super proud of this girl for graduating from nursing school this year! Here’s a few of my favorites from our shoot but you can always check out more on my website at www.lorisandoval.weebly.com. Be on the lookout for this week’s post on Friday!
